Mending

Today I went to Technical Services and I got to learn about and take part in mending some books. I was instructed by a student worker named Ashley who had been working there since last fall. She already had a couple of jobs started and nothing really new to show me from the start so she explained the process of fixing bindings. After watching her work on a few, I was able to try it myself on some books they were going to get rid of. Of course I wasn't as fast as Ashley because this was my first time doing any mending, but I wanted be careful - just like I was working on a book that was going back onto the shelves.

She also showed me how to reattach covers and insert lose pages back into the book. I'll be going back to do some more mending on Friday so hopefully I get to do some more hands on work.
